Swedish Elkhound
The Jämthund, also known as the Swedish Elkhound, is an ancient dog breed hailing from the Jämtland region of Sweden. This breed has a long history, dating back over 12,000 years, and was traditionally used for hunting big game, particularly elk and other large game animals. The Jämthund's ancestors were brought to Scandinavia by the Mesolithic hunter-gatherer tribes, and through selective breeding, the modern Jämthund as we know it today was developed.
